Seek and You Will Find, a Practical Guide to Life

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7

Sometimes it is hard to see the solution to a problem in life and a simple answer like “seek, and you will find” may seem unsatisfying at first glance. But when you follow these instructions you have assurance from Jesus that you will find what you are looking for.

Consider what you will seek out today and if you will get it. If you are looking for food, do you simply give up if you don’t find any in the cupboard? Or do you continue looking until you find food?

Seeking food is a simplistic example but try applying it to something more complicated like finding happiness in your work, life, marriage or other relationships. If something is going wrong do you find giving up a valid solution? If so, would you ever give up looking for something as basic as food?

We are to love our enemies (Matt 5:44) how much more are we supposed to love our families, friends, neighbors and even strangers? If you are finding it hard to love someone seek an answer to your problem until you find it. If you are out of work look for those that are offering a job until you find it. If you are unhappy look for those that are happy and find out why. Seek and you will find is instructions for not giving up until you find what you are looking for.

You can seek out bad things as well as good and you will find those too. So we have to be vigilant to seek good things, because we have an assurance that what you seek, you will find.

Social Media, Video Games and Entertainment

...whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

There are many wonderful things to think about, what are you spending your time thinking about?

...for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

We must decide where to place our efforts, our thoughts and desires. Consider carefully, every day, what your mind dwells on and your heart desires. And if need be, change it to something better.

Self Control

If you don’t have self control, who is controlling you?

Repentance

If you do not have anything to repent of, your expectations of your self are too low.

Cure Depression

Care about other people’s problems more than your own, and don’t stop until you feel better.
